Spotify Canvas is the short vertical video that plays behind your song in the app. Most artists fill it with a phone clip or a template. We render yours from the audio itself: a spectrum ring around your logo that pulses with the beat, then cut a seamless 3-8 second loop from the drop.
What Spotify actually requires
Before you order anything, here are the constraints Spotify sets for Canvas. Every file we deliver meets them, but it helps to know why the format looks the way it does.
- Length: 3 to 8 seconds. The video loops, so the first and last frame should match.
- Aspect ratio: 9:16 (vertical). Spotify recommends 720x1280 or higher; we render at 1080x1920 (Starter) or 1440x2560 (Pro) and you can downscale if the uploader complains.
- Format: MP4 or JPEG. No audio track is played, so the video is silent by design.
- Where to upload: Spotify for Artists, per track, after the release is live or delivered by your distributor.
Why a loop cut from the drop works better
A Canvas is watched for a few seconds while someone decides whether to keep listening. A loop that is visibly reacting to the music tells the listener the artist cared about this release. Because our engine detects the drop automatically, the 8 seconds we pick are the most energetic part of the track: the ring is at full amplitude and the flare hits on the first beat of the loop. Cutting the loop on a beat boundary also hides the seam.
How the order works
- Send a link to the WAV or 320 kbps MP3 in the order form. Write "Canvas" in the notes so we know to cut a loop.
- We render the full track in 9:16, detect the drop and cut a loop with matching first and last frames.
- You get a preview by email within 24-48 hours. If you approve it, you pay and receive the loop plus the full-length vertical video (useful for Shorts, Reels and TikTok).
